September 29th through October 28th
IN THE BETWEEN
New Graphic Works by Jill Hadley Hooper
Opening Reception on Friday, September
29th, 2006, 7-10pm
These large graphic works have strong narrative content, having been shaped
and inspired by the study of Buddhist texts and philosophy. She approaches
her work with a sense of humor that eases the viewer into her darker material.
An element of this show is a 5-by-12-foot painting of a supine deer half
submerged in water, a metaphor for both the creation and the demise of
the individual.
Hadley is an illustrator and painter whose regular clients include the
New York Times, Harpers' Magazine and Time Magazine. In 2006 her
work won a Silver Medal from the Society of Illustration. She is
gallery coordinator at Ironton and with Tracy Weil co- founder of River
North Art District.
Kyle MacMillan reviewed "In the Between" in the Denver Post: "Two
stunning solo shows not to be missed"
