August 25th through September 23rd
...and we all fall down
Mixed Media Assemblage by Sharon M Bankert
Opening Reception on Friday, August 25th, 2006, 7-10pm

In the installation “…we all fall down” artist Sharon M Bankert continues her exploration of the human condition—our surroundings, beliefs, fears and mortality.  Her combination of imagery and audio create a familiar, yet uncomfortable place.  Using photo-collage and beeswax as her main media, the end result is an embalmed visual story.  Sometimes a full chapter, other times an introduction.  Her insatiable curiosity and yearning for discovery lead her to more questions without having the previous ones answered.

The installation will include a wooden box that sits on a metal stand in the middle of the space. The box contains a collage of imagery alluding to questions surrounding mortality and consequences. The box is sealed with beeswax and filled with water, providing a reflective quality as the audience peers into the box.  A muted audio loop of a popular children's nursery rhyme lingers in the background. On the walls is a combination of 2 dimensional collage works that create a dialog between the sculpture, music, and audience.

Ironton Studios is open Monday through Friday from 10 to 4, and Saturdays from 12 to 4.
