Functional Shift
(Industrial Crates as Emotional Containers)
New work by Sculptor Kim Ferrer

Friday, March 18th, 2005, 6pm to 9pm
Gallery Hours:

Over the past two years Kim Ferrer has used
discarded crates, left as waste along the side of the road or in
empty lots as containers for human emotions. Filling these once
purposeful, now displaced forms with human feelings, intimate thoughts
and personal experiences, Kim transforms these crates from cold,
hard, mechanical and sterile shells into vessels that embody a
soul and speak to the contrast between industry and humanity. This
show is intended to give the viewer the opportunity to witness
the rebirth of a once functional item into an expressive container
that has its own character, personality and story.
Kim Ferrer has
been a working artist for the past 28 years and recently received
an MFA degree from Colorado State University
in Fort Collins.
