IRONTON HOSTS TANK STUDIOS WITH AN OPENING RECEPTION FRIDAY DECEMBER 12TH 6-10,2014 / by hadley hooper

Please join us for the opening reception of More Than Friends on Friday December 12, 2014. More than Friends presents the work of 23 local artists who share studio space at TANK Studios in South Denver. TANK was founded in January of 2013 by nine local artists with the aim of creating a strong and sustainable community for working artists at all career levels. Today, just one year later, TANK has grown to host 22 artists working in a variety of media. The work shown here is a cross-section of the studio practices present at TANK, ranging from painting to digital media, collage to collaborative performance, sculpture to photography and video. While the subject matter, conceptual concerns, and media differ, the works reflect the open critical dialog that TANK fosters. TANK is more than a building, it is a community. And the artists of TANK are, in fact, more than friends; they are colleagues, supporters, collaborators, and instigators.

The group show More Than Friends  includes the work of Tyler Beard, Mindy Bray, Beau Carey, Amelia Carley, Jaime Carrejo, Theresa Clowes, Amber Cobb, Monique Crine, Heather Doyle-Maier, Tobias Fike, Ian Fisher, Matthew Harris, Conor King, Eric Portis, Adam Milner, Margaret Neumann, Gretchen Marie Schaefer, Laura Shill, Sarah Wallace Scott, Natasha Seideneck, Joel Swanson, Derrick Velasquez, & David Zimmer. The exhibit runs through January 10th 2016. More info on Tank  here and here.
